Summary

This review examines the book Someplace to Call Home authored by Sandra Dallas offering a great example of modern literature that allows MLL teachers a vehicle for interesting classroom instruction.  The book explores a historical fiction version of adversity during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl affording MLL students self-to-text connections and a historical overview of the US. Through this review, are educational standards which are insightful ways to engage students.

Darlene Ramirez

Darlene M. Ramirez was born and raised in NY, resided in Florida but now thrives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her handsome husband Rafael and Carolina Dog Tonka.  She has BAchelors From Mount Saint Mary’s in NY and a Master’s in English Language Learning from Western Governors University.  She currently works as the MLL Specialist in a neighboring elementary school in Mason County. She has co authored a book Moments in Life, The Caregiver's Story. After having assisted others with their book creations and being a leader in virtual and in-person book clubs, she is resolutely writing her own book which will be published in the near future.
