Circumventing Plagiarism: Building Trust via Code Switching

Summary

When English Language Teachers ask students to do tasks that are above their linguistic levels, they may resort to plagiarism. I will describe a case study in which I employed code-switching to circumvent the temptation to plagiarize by building trust with my students and providing comprehensible input, which resulted in improved student performance and language acquisition.
