Summary

My study investigated the challenges mainstream teachers in British Columbia, Canada, face in serving emergent bilingual and multilingual (EBM) students in their classrooms. The aim was to assess the effectiveness of a modified version of the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) in enhancing teachers' self-efficacy when serving EBMs. Through analyzing quantitative and qualitative insights, the study indicated that changes are needed so that teachers are prepared and supported to serve EBMs better.
